The Space

This fully furnished private home has spectacular views from almost every room, built with an open plan flow and extensive floor-to-ceiling glass panels.

The top level has combined living, dining and kitchen, opening onto a  wooden deck as well as an inner courtyard.  A bedroom with a queen bed and an attached en-suite.
The bottom level has two bedrooms, a queen and a double, with a shared bathroom, hallway and access to the garden.
Fast free Wifi in all rooms.
Full kitchen facilities with oven, stove, cookware, dishes and silverware, coffeemaker and complimentary tea amenities.
Laundry with washer and dryer and clothes rack, iron and ironing board.
Bathroom is furnished with towels, hairdryer and basic toiletries.
Pillows, bedding, enough to keep you warm and cosy.
There is parking for two cars, one in the garage and one in the driveway.
The house is very cosy in winter with underfloor heating.
Although the property has a few stairs, the entire upper level is wheelchair accessible, (contact me for further details).

 

The Neighbourhood

The house is located in Waikawa, three kilometers from Picton, the centre of the Marlborough Sounds. Nearby is the city of Blenheim, the centre of world-renowned vineyards and gourmet dining.

Beautiful in every direction, Marlborough Sounds is a collection of forested hills, river valleys, sheltered inlets and sandy bays full of native wildlife.

Waikawa situated in the Queen Charlotte Sound, one of the three main bodies of water in Marlborough Sounds.  Tide swimming can be found along the sandy inlets and spectacular walking trails can be found on the Queen Charlotte Track, regarded as one of the classic New Zealand walkways.  Motorboat hire is available in the Queen Charlotte Sound or Picton’s marina nearby.

The picturesque seaside town of Picton is Marlborough Sounds centre town and the base for the ferry service between New Zealand’s main islands.  It is blessed with great coffee, cafes and restaurants as well as the Picton Visitor Information Centre for attractions and adventure activities.

Nearby is Blenheim (30mins drive), the centre of the Marlborough wine-growing area, with over 20 wineries to choose from, and a selection of gourmet dining, bars, artisan food outlets and art galleries.  Nelson, Kaikoura, and the Nelson Lakes National Park are also nearby.

Getting Around

Waikawa is 3kms from Picton, which is the terminus for the Inter Island Ferry. Shuttles are available for transport to and from the ferry and the airport in Blenheim. A pick up can be arranged with notice.
The nearest shops/cafes/restaurants are in Picton.
